July 30th, & July 31st Fishing Reports

THURSDAY, JULY 30TH

Thursdays trip was a full boat at 25 people. The day was hot, with very little moving air on the water.  The fishing was on the slower side, even though the dogfish finally gave us a decent break from their trouble.  We managed to scratch out a day, with some fishermen getting up to 6 or 7 keepers each.  Although the fishing was slow, with the couple of families we had on the boat, we really enjoyed the day; and managed to go home with dinner for all.

FRIDAY, JULY 31ST

Fridays trip started off slow in the morning. The wind was negligible, which allowed us to drift all day. We started on western tillies, working our way east throughout the day.  By mid morning, the bite started to pick up. The afternoon was great fishing, with lots of haddock and cusk coming over the rail in good numbers.  We averaged about 8 keepers per person throughout the boat, with some of the more experienced anglers hitting the 15 haddock mark.  A cusk around 10lbs won the pool. A great day of fishing.

July 24th, 25th, & 26th, Weekend Wrap-Up

Friday’s Marathon, Saturday & Sunday All Day Fishing

Sorry for the prolonged silence on the fishing reports to all who look for them.  The temperature has gone up in the air, and the eater. We’ve definitely seen an influx of dogfish in the area, but other than one day in the last two weeks, they have been very manageable. Haddock fishing has been steady, and when the dogs have been thickest, we have spent some time hunting redfish and cusk to top off the haddock catch.

Our last trip was Sunday the 26th, and a good day was had by all. We spent the day on a piece of bottom just shy of tillies ledge to the east.  It’s a harder piece of bottom, causing some lost sinkers throughout the day. However, it proved to be very productive, and held very little dogfish.  The average for the boat was about 6 keepers per person, with the more experienced anglers catching upwards of 10 a piece.

And for that super serious angler, we are offering a super marathon trip.  Leave the dock at 11pm, return the following evening at 8pm.  This is an overnight trip that allows for a double the catch.

Next super marathon is Sunday, August 23rd, through Monday, August 24th.

Saturday, July 4th! Fishing Report

Happy independence day from the Lady Sea and her crew.

It was an great 4th on the boat today. The day started out with a decent sea on in the morning, caused by a northeast wind.  However, the day got nicer before we even reached the fishing grounds. The anglers on board averaged 9 keepers per person, with the more experienced pushing between 10 and 12. We found the fish in 260ft of water out on tillies ledge, and had to contend with some running tide for most of the day.  The weather cleared up even more, and it turned into a beautiful day to be on the water.

Remember, due to covid-19, trips have a limited capacity and are filling up fast.  For reservations please call us at  978 559 1978.

June 26th, Fishing Report

Thursday, June 26th-All Day Fishing

Another killer day of fishing aboard the Lady Sea.  It was a bit windier today, putting an end to yesterday’s awesome drift. However, the fish still responded well on the anchor. Our first 2 stops were in 230 ft of water, on southern Tillies. The bite was average in the early morning before the tide change. The following 2 stops were a little deeper, about 250 ft. After the tide change the bite was heavy, and well spread out around the boat. We averaged 9 keepers per person, with every group on the boat going home with nice bags of fillets.

Remember……. we are running limited trips due to covid-19, trips fill up fast.  For reservations please call us at 978 559 1978.

Thursday, June 25th, All Day Fishing Report

A good day was had by all on the Lady Sea today.  5 kts of westerly wind gave us the perfect opportunity to drift around all day. Although the boat was moving a little quick, the customers got the hang of the technique fast and produced good numbers.

We averaged about 10 keepers per person, exclusively haddock. We did see some decent cod fish as well (all released safely).

June 19th, Marathon Fishing Report

Marathon Fishing – June 19th

Todays marathon was a good one, and brought much better results than Thursdays all day trip.

We started our day 22 miles ESE of Gloucester, in about 265 feet of water. The bite was average for the first few stops of the day, not hot and heavy, but steady.  Right after the tide change, around 10am, the bite picked up very well. The boat averaged 7 keepers per person.

However, the more experienced anglers pushed 12 to 15 keepers a piece. Good weather and good fishing; that’s what it’s all about.

June 18th, Fishing Report

Thursday, June 18th All Day Fishing

From the best day of the year offshore on Monday, to the slowest day inshore on Thursday.

Today’s trip was a tough one, we just couldn’t get a bite to last on any given stop. We started our day in 270ft of water on northern tillies, and ended in 220ft on southern tillies. We covered 15 miles of bottom at varying depths.  The guys on deck managed to scrape up around 50 fish, but they were hard won.

We did see a variety of haddock, cusk and redfish. The less than average catch wasn’t for lack of trying, I guess that’s why they call it fishing.

Weekend Wrap-Up

Fishing this weekend was steady aboard the Lady Sea.  There was a good 3 to 4 foot sea all weekend, making for a tougher bite for most customers to feel. However, all 3 days we managed a good 7 to 10 fish average per person.

On Saturday we found a bunch of redfish to add to the numbers, and on Sunday we did the same with cusk.

All in all a good weekend on the high seas.

May 30th, 2020 Fishing Report

Saturday, May 30th

The sun was shining on the Lady Sea today, and the fishing was exceptional!

The boat limited out on haddock, with a nice mix of redfish and cusk as well. The reduced number of anglers, coupled with good fishing is making our day trips an experience that our customers won’t soon forget.

Make a reservation and get on board while there is space available.

And don’t forget to check out our extended marathon trips in June.
